Grêmio empata com Corinthians e decisão fica para o Couto Pereira.

Gremio and Corinthians faced each other on Wednesday night (31), starting at 9:30 pm (Brasilia time), at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, in a match valid for the Round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. The match started busy and heated, clearly the home team had the intention of settling the confrontation at home. The team led by coach Renato Portaluppi, despite the three center-backs, showed mutual offensive and collecting the best chances early in the match. The game remained very balanced. Gremio's great chance came at 35 minutes of the first half, with Cristaldo hitting a bomb to the corner from a free-kick, and on the rebound, Villasanti attempted with his left foot, but the opposing goalkeeper made a great save.

The second half began with Corinthians' Raniele being sent off at the 10-minute mark. After reviewing on VAR, the referee confirmed a very violent tackle on Villasanti. Despite the numerical advantage, Tricolor failed to impose themselves and Renato was forced to make changes. First, Geromel and Pavon left, with Gustavo Nunes and Nathan Fernandes coming in. Then, Carballo and Cristaldo were replaced by Edenilson and Arezo. In the 47th minute, Corinthians scored what would be the only goal of the match. The play came from a marking mistake by left-back Reinaldo, but he was offside. Shortly after, in the 51st minute, forward Gustavo Nunes was also sent off. With no time for anything else, the match ended in a draw.

The return match of the Round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil takes place next week. On Wednesday (7), starting at 9:30 pm, Imortal receives Corinthians at the Couto Pereira. The stadium has already been confirmed by the CBF.
